Description
This is an Antique Irish Crochet Lace Rose Motif with Four Leaf Sprays handmade by local lacemakers circa 1913 from the County Cork Industrial Association, Distributors of Real Handmade Laces and Crochet.
It is made up of a five petal deep Irish Crochet Rose Motif with four separate Leaf Spray Motifs radiating from the rose with three leaves on each spray. The detail on the leaf motifs are reminiscent of the type of leaves found on a rose tree in Ireland. This design would have been inspired by the local flora. These motifs are worked in a very fine thread using a very fine crochet hook.
Measuring 4 inches wide by 4 inches high, the lace motif comes displayed on a blue felt backing, in a mount measuring 8 inches by 10 inches which fits a standard frame.
There are 113 of these motifs in the County Cork Industrial Association Collection. Each motif has been numbered and comes with a Letter of Authentication.
