Forgotten Cotton – A Brief History
The name of our online store, Forgotten Cotton, originally came about as a result of the pure white cotton sheets that my parents received as wedding presents in the 1950’s. With the advent of polycotton and nylon sheets in the 1970’s people seemed to forget about the benefits and the pleasure of using natural cotton sheets. Personally, I absolutely loved using the cotton sheets, and if I did then there had to be other people out there too that also appreciated them as much as me.
At the time, it was almost impossible to get plain white cotton sheets, let alone the colours to match your decor. With the Irish tradition of linen and lace in mind and a need for good cotton bed linen, Forgotten Cotton was born. Our original shop, opened in Cork, Ireland, started out by stocking pure white bedding made from 100% cotton, a big contrast to the even bigger floral patterns being used at the time. This helped us to carve out a position in the market place that put us ahead of the curve and more in tune with what our customers really wanted.
Over the years we have supplied quality bed linens to individual customers seeking something exclusive for their homes, to interior designers, boutique hotels and country houses throughout Ireland and overseas.
By gathering together all the experience we have gained from providing quality bed linens, we now bring to you something a little bit different in the form of our own newly launched duvet cover designs. We hope they meet your requirements and exceed your expectations, whilst still bringing you a quality product of which we can be proud.
