This Antique Irish Crochet Lace Motif, handmade by local lace makers circa 1913, is from the County Cork Industrial Association, Distributors of Real Irish Handmade Laces and Crochet.
This motif is called a Rose Centred Shamrock Motif and consists of a three petal deep Irish crochet Rose Motif centre to three mesh filled pointed Leaf Motifs with picot stitch edging and a stem. This motif is worked in a very fine thread using a very fine crochet hook.
Measuring 3 inches wide by 4 inches high, the lace comes displayed on a blue felt backing, in a mount measuring 8 inches by 10 inches which fits a standard frame.
There are 137 of these motifs in the County Cork Industrial Association Collection. Each motif has been numbered and comes with a Letter of Authentication.
