Description
This Antique Irish Crochet Lace Motif, handmade by local lace makers circa 1913, is from the County Cork Industrial Association, Distributors of Real Irish Handmade Laces and Crochet.
This Irish Crochet Lace Motif is called a Shamrock Square Motif and consists of a small Irish Crochet Shamrock in the centre of a crochet square formed by picot stich open work combined with a diagonal pattern linking the shamrock to each corner of the square. There is a three loop picot border around the shamrock square. The motif was worked in a very fine crochet thread using a very fine crochet hook.
Measuring 3 inches wide by 3 inches high, the crochet lace comes displayed on blue felt in a mount measuring 8 inches by 10 inches which fits a standard frame.
There are 53 of these motifs in the County Cork Industrial Association Lace Collection. Each motif has been numbered and comes with a Letter of Authentication.
