This is an Antique Irish Crochet Lace Motif, handmade by local lace makers circa 1913, from the County Cork Industrial Association, Distributors of Real Irish Handmade Laces and Crochet.
This Irish Crochet Motif is called a Rose Leaf Motif. It is made up of a five petal deep Irish Crochet Rose Motif with three separate Leaf Spray Motifs radiating from the rose with three leaves on each spray. The detail on the leaf motifs are reminiscent of the type of leaves found on a rose tree in Ireland. This design would have been inspired by the local flora. These motifs are worked in a very fine thread using a very fine crochet hook.
Measuring 4 inches wide by 5.5 inches high, the lace motif comes displayed on a blue felt backing, in a mount measuring 10 inches by 12 inches which fits a standard frame.
There are 370 of these motifs in the County Cork Industrial Association Collection. Each motif has been numbered and comes with a Letter of Authentication.
