This Antique Irish Crochet Lace Motif, handmade by local lace makers circa 1913, is from the County Cork Industrial Association, Distributors of Real Irish Handmade Laces and Crochet.
This motif is called a Leaf Spray Motif and consists of five densely filled leaves on a central stem. This particular Leaf Motif was often used with flower motifs such as the Rose Motif to form larger, more elaborate patterns. This motif is worked in a very fine thread using a very fine crochet hook.
Measuring 2.5 inches wide by 3 inches high, the lace comes displayed on a blue felt backing, in a mount measuring 8 inches by 10 inches which fits a standard frame.
There are 141 of these Irish crochet lace motifs in the County Cork Industrial Association Collection. Each lace motif has been numbered and comes with a Letter of Authentication.
